West Bengal has seen a new government form just one month ago, but since then, the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has announced one initiative and project after another. Now there's very good news for our Darjeeling!
Darjeeling to Gangasagar: 770km Mega Highway
Public Works Minister Ajay Poddar announced that a mega highway plan has been proposed. Under this plan:
A 770-kilometer-long highway will be built from Darjeeling in North Bengal to Gangasagar in South Bengal
Part of this road will pass through Bihar
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the State Government will jointly implement this project
Road Conditions Will Improve in 7 Months!
Minister Ajay Poddar claimed that within the next 7 months, the condition of roads across the state will improve significantly.
From July 15 to October, road construction faces difficulties due to rain
Starting in October, 90 new roads will be built in West Bengal
With a double-engine government (same party at state and center), there will be no shortage of funds
Gangasagar Bridge: Darjeeling Will Get Direct Connection
To connect Darjeeling to Gangasagar by road, the Gangasagar Bridge must be built first. The West Bengal government has obtained approval for this bridge.
The previous government laid the foundation stone but did not obtain permission from the Central Government. The new government has obtained permission and has started work on building the Gangasagar Bridge!
New Changes in Agriculture Too
Agriculture Minister Dudh Kumar Mondal announced that the previous government's "Krishak Bandhu" and "Crop Insurance" schemes will be converted into the central schemes "Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi" and "Fasal Bima Yojana."
Our Darjeeling Will Now Connect Directly to Gangasagar! 🎉
Under this project, it will become easier to travel directly from our Darjeeling to Gangasagar. The connection between North Bengal and South Bengal will become even stronger.
