Centre, Lebong Announces Trials for Archery and Football in Darjeeling

The SAI Training Centre at Gorkha Stadium, Lebong, has announced selection trials for its 2026–27 training programmes in archery and football, opening a fresh opportunity for young sportspersons from the hills. The trials will be held on 4 and 5 July 2026, with registration starting at 8:30 AM on 4 July.

According to the press release, archery is open to boys only under the residential scheme, while football is open to boys only under the non-residential scheme. The age limit is 12–16 years for archery and 12–14 years for football, and selection will be based on fitness tests, sport-specific skill tests, and the candidate’s attitude and aptitude toward the game.

Candidates must bring their original documents with self-attested photocopies, including a birth certificate, educational certificate, residential certificate, Aadhaar card, sports achievement certificates from the last two years, and three passport-size photographs. Selected trainees will get expert coaching, training support, boarding and lodging for residential trainees, sports kits, medical and insurance coverage, and educational support where applicable.
