Every election brings hope and Darjeeling is not different. For the residents daily life has not changed significantly. The tea garden workers shape the heart of Darjeeling yet make far less then their own dignity, tourism although vibrant has its own tension. Young people leaving their home behind to shape there future in bigger cities for jobs and better opportunities. Election brings in hope and promises sometimes those promises remain in the corner of a busy Darjeeling street.

Real progess takes time and we all can only hope for now. History will not remember who made the best promises, who gave the loudest speeches etc. It will remember the change, the change that made living in hills easier and the change that brought them back home.
