• Healthcare Deficiencies : The MLA highlighted that residents are currently forced to travel entirely out of the sub-division to either Darjeeling town or down to Siliguri even for basic or specialized medical treatment.

• The Solution : Acquiring full district status would automatically grant Kurseong a dedicated District Hospital and decentralized, independent administrative departments, removing the logistical burden on locals.

Proposed Jurisdiction Breakdown

According to the proposal submitted by the legislator, the newly envisioned Kurseong district would be structured by merging several key municipal and rural boundaries:

• Municipalities : The entire urban limits of both Kurseong Municipality and Mirik Municipality.

• Rural Blocks: Three regional Development Blocks.

• Rural Reach: More than 1,000 villages.
